Your Step-by-Step Guide: How to Get a Canada Visit Visa from Dubai

Are you ready to experience the beauty that Canada offers? Whether it is the vibrant cities of Toronto and Vancouver or the breath-taking landscapes of Banff and Jasper, there is a treasure waiting out there for you to discover. If you are visiting Dubai and planning to travel to Canada, you will require a visit visa. Let’s break it down together, step by step.

  1. Do I need a visa?

First things first: Do I need a visa to enter Canada? For most UAE residents, the answer is yes. TRVs, or visitor visas, are the type of visa you will be required to obtain to visit Canada.

  1. Types of Visitor Visas

Before proceeding to the application process, it is worth knowing that there are two categories of TRVs:

Single Entry Visa: This way you are allowed to enter Canada only once in the period of the validity of that visa.
Multiple Entry Visa: This way you can visit and depart from Canada as many times as you want as long as the visa is valid. Mostly applicants are considered for a multiple-entry visa by default unless otherwise specified.

  1. Your Application Package
Depending on your needs, to simplify the application process you should have all the documents and information available. Here’s a checklist step-by-step:

Step 1: Required Documents

Application Form (IMM 5257): This is the main form you’ll need to fill out. It’s available on the official Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.

Passport: Ensure your passport is valid and has at least one blank page. You’ll also need to provide a copy of the bio-data page.

Photographs: You’ll need two recent passport-sized photos that meet the specifications outlined by IRCC.

Proof of Funds: Show that you have sufficient money to sustain you during your sojourn there. This might be in form of bank statements, pay slips, or letter from your employer.

Travel Itinerary: A travel itinerary where you show travel plans, booking of flights when available, accommodation reservations, among others.

Reason for Visit: Explain why you are visiting Canada. Are you there for a tour, going to visit family members or friends, or attending business meetings?

Ties to UAE: Show that you have strong ties to the UAE, such as a job, property, or family commitments, which will ensure that you return after your visit.

Step 2: Submit Your Application

You can apply online on the IRCC website or in person at the nearest Visa Application Center. Online applications require creating an account on the IRCC portal, uploading your documents, and paying the application fee.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

The application fee for a TRV runs approximately CAD 100. This can be paid online and one must take a screenshot of the receipt as proof of payment.

  1. Biometrics

Canada requires biometrics (fingerprinting and photo) for most applicants. Here’s how to go about it:

Biometric Appointment: once you have lodged your application and paid the required fee you will get a Biometrics Instruction Letter that will assist you in scheduling a date at one of the designated Biometrics Collection Service Points.

Fee: CAD 85 besides the application fee for the visa.

  1. Additional Requirements

In some cases, you may be required to take a medical exam. This would often be when you intend to stay in Canada for more than six months or when engaging in particular types of occupation. IRCC will advise you if a medical exam is needed.

  1. Processing Time

The processing time for a Canada visit visa from Dubai can vary, but it generally takes around 14 to 30 days. It’s essential to apply well in advance of your planned travel date to account for any potential delays.

  1. Decision

Once it is processed, a decision will be delivered. If your visa is approved, it will be stamped on your passport. If your application is not approved, an explanation will accompany it. Do not despair; you can reapply if the situation changes or if you become able to provide more information.

  1. Preparing for Your Trip

Once your visa is in your pocket, start preparing for your adventure to Canada:

Travel Insurance: Not strictly necessary, but very advisable to get travel insurance that will cover you in case of any medical or travel-related problems.

Customs and Immigration: Once you arrive in Canada, you will pass through customs and immigration. Be prepared to present your passport, visa, and supporting documents. The border officer may ask you a few questions to confirm your travel plans.

  1. Have a Great Time in Canada

Now that you’ve navigated the visa process, it’s time to enjoy your Canadian adventure! From the bustling cities to the serene natural landscapes, Canada offers something for everyone. Don’t forget to try some poutine, visit a hockey game, and take plenty of photos to capture your memories.

Applying for a Canada visit visa from Dubai may be a hassle to do, but with careful preparation and the right information, the process will run smoothly and cause less stress. Safe travels and enjoy every moment of your journey to Canada! ????✈️????
