Your Comprehensive Guide: Requirements for Canada Visit Visa from Dubai

Want to witness the fabulous beauty of Canada? From the cities in Toronto and Vancouver to Banff and Jasper, what exists in Canada is a treasure to discover. And if you plan to travel from Dubai to Canada, you will need a visit visa. Let’s break down the requirements together, step by step.

  1. Understanding the Visa Requirements

First things first: As a UAE resident, you will need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to visit Canada. This visa is for tourists, business visitors, and those visiting family or friends for short stays, usually less than six months. Let’s go over the main requirements for obtaining a TRV.

  1. Types of Visitor Visas

Before you get started, it’s helpful to know that there are two main types of TRVs:

Single Entry Visa: This visa allows you to enter Canada only once within the validity period of the visa.

Multiple Entry Visa: This allows you to come and go from Canada as often as you wish, provided that the visa is valid. Most applicants are automatically considered for a multiple-entry visa unless otherwise specified.

  1. Collecting the Required Documents

As for ensuring a smooth application process, several documents and information are required.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Application Form (IMM 5257)

This is the main form that you will need to fill out. It’s available on the official Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website. Make sure that all information provided is accurate and complete.

Step 2: Passport

Ensure your passport is valid and has at least one blank page. You’ll also need to provide a copy of the bio-data page. Your passport should remain valid for the duration of your stay in Canada.

Step 3: Photographs

You’ll need two recent passport-sized photos that meet the specifications outlined by IRCC. These photos must be clear, in color, and taken within the last six months.

Step 4: Proof of Funds

Present evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Evidence could be in the form of a bank statement, pay stub, or letter from the employer. This depends on your planned length of stay and what you intend to do in Canada.

Step 5: Travel Itinerary

Discuss your travel plans; include flight reservations if made and accommodation reservations. It is not necessary to have confirmed tickets, but an important, well-detailed plan will strengthen your application.

Step 6: Purpose of Visit

Let the board know why you are visiting Canada. Are you visiting for tourism, to visit family or friends, or to attend a business meeting? Be honest and clear in your explanation.

Step 7: Ties to UAE

It must demonstrate that you have strong connections in the UAE, including work, properties, or other family commitments to return to once your visit is over. This could include a letter from your employer, property ownership documents, or other family commitments.

4: Submission of Your Application

Once you have all the documents, you can now submit your application. You can do this online through the IRCC website or in person at the nearest Visa Application Center (VAC). Here’s how:

    Online Submission

Create an Account: Go to the IRCC website and create an account on the IRCC portal.

Complete the Forms: Filling up various forms such as IMM 5257 and some other forms according to your specific situations.

Upload documents: Uploading all the essential documents according to the application process.

Pay application fee: Fee for a TRV is typically around CAD 100. Make the payment through online and store the receipt since it is necessary as proof.

    In-Person Submission

Visit the VAC: Take your forms and supporting documents to the nearest Visa Application Center (VAC).

Submit Your Application: Hand over your application and documents to the VAC staff.

Pay the Fee: Pay the application fee at the VAC and keep the receipt as proof of payment.

    1. Biometrics

Canada requires biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for most visa applicants. Here’s how to get this done:

Biometrics Appointment: After you submit your application and pay the fee, you will receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter. The letter will direct you on how to book an appointment at one of the Biometrics Collection Service Points.

Fee: The biometrics fee is approximately CAD 85 in addition to the visa application fee.

    1. Additional Requirements

In some cases, you may be required to undergo a medical exam, especially if you are staying in Canada for more than six months or working in specific occupations. IRCC will let you know if a medical exam is required.

    1. Processing Time

The processing time for a Canada visit visa from Dubai can vary, but it generally takes around 14 to 30 days. It’s wise to apply well in advance of your planned travel date to avoid any last-minute stress.

    1. Interview

Interviews are not mandatory but you might be called for an interview at the visa office. Be ready to answer questions regarding your travel plans, your ties to the UAE, and the purpose of visiting Canada.

    1. Receiving the Decision

Once your application is processed, you will get a decision. If your visa is approved, you will receive your passport with the visa sticker on it. If it’s refused, you’ll be given an explanation. So don’t get disappointed if you’re not successful the first time – you can reapply when you have additional information or circumstances change.

    1. Preparing for Your Trip

Now that you have your visa, it’s time to prepare for your Canadian adventure:

Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is not compulsory but is advisable in case you have any medical or travel-related problems.

Customs and Immigration: When you reach Canada, you will be cleared through customs and immigration. You will be asked to present your passport, visa, and supporting documents, if any. The border officer may ask a few questions about your travel plan.

    1. Have Fun in Canada

And now, with the visa process conquered, its time to have fun in Canada! Whether it’s its great cities, magnificent landscapes, or rich culture, Canada has a lot to offer everyone. Do not miss a plate of poutine, watch a hockey game, and take loads of pictures to cover all the memories.

Applying for a Canada visit visa from Dubai can be quite cumbersome, but if one is prepared and knows what to do, the process becomes quite smooth and hassle-free. Have a safe trip and enjoy every moment of your Canadian journey! ????✈️????
